Technology Leadership and Planning Concepts
Dr. Andy Berning, Chief Information and Technology Officer for Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD, will present a fun, interactive session on Technology Leadership and Planning Concepts.  This is not a highly technical session.  The target audience is district leadership with an interest in basic technology concepts related to K12 school districts.Dr. Berning will cover relevant issues in technology leadership, infrastructure, integration, evaluation, and safety.  During the session attendees will be building a Technology Roadmap for their campus or district.Dr. Berning will be providing a free copy of his book What Every Educator Needs to Know about Technology to all attendees.

TEA Initiatives Using Technology to Support Learning and Assessment - Part 1 (Grades 3-8) & Part 2 (Grades (6-12)
Part 1 (grades 3-8) of this session introduces the Texas SUCCESS (Students Using Curriculum Content to Ensure Sustained Success) initiative, designed to offer all students in grades 3-8 free access to cutting edge, interactive math and reading programs. Using these programs, students are assessed and then according to their skill level are automatically assigned and delivered appropriate and engaging online curricular support tailored to the student’s needs.

 

Part 2 (grades 6-12) of this session focuses on college and career readiness support for students in grades 6-12.  This portion of the session presents the Online College and Career Preparation Assistance Resource Site, which offers a wealth of online resources for students, parents, and counselors.  The free, web-based portal includes tools for career exploration and planning, college search and match based on student interests and aspirations, and college application and financial planning

During the session, attendees will be performing a Digital Review on a technology of their choice.  The target audience is district leadership with an interest in making sure digital products have been vetted and evaluated to ensure maximum success in technology integration.
